Power of design to mobilize connection and belonging by embodying the purpose, culture and values of the company.
The brief was to embark on a long overdue renovation to modernize and make relevant the reception of a 130-year-old pharmaceutical company. This forward-thinking management team wanted its ethos and values to be reflected in the newly designed face of their company.
Sophisticated, timeless and inviting was the objective. To address the issue of the entrance being situated in an intimidating triple volume an undulating, contemporary slatted wall was used to not only frame the reception area but also to subconsciously reduce the height of the triple volume to a less intimidating level.
The soft curves lead one’s eye from one side to the other without being overwhelmed by the vastness of the space. We have made all aspects of the shell neutral and brought in colour and charisma with the soft seating area.
The eclectic, bespoke sofa draws clients into the waiting area and in so doing reinforcing the professional yet welcoming ethos of the company. The original wall cladding was made out of maple which had aged and gone yellow over the years.
We used a selection of grey and white high gloss decals on the individual blocks to modernized the look without eating into our budget and allowing us to spend on more high impact items. The new-look is sophisticated, professional and welcoming.
